In Schaepmanstraat, Lucas Lenglet built on previous works in which he often uses metal grids. Sometimes these are custom-made colored grids with which he makes cages. For Welcome Stranger he placed red powdercoated steel grids in front of all the windows of his apartment on the corner of Schaepmanstraat - De Kempenaerstraat. Lenglet: 'For me it is an incentive to think about what position I take in the community in which I live: to what extent am I expected to participate, how much from outside do I allow and what relationship do I enter into with the other person?'.

During the Covid restrictions, Welcome Stranger started inviting artists to create a work on the facade of their own home. Lenglet's intervention was the first in a series of temporary artworks that since meanders through Amsterdam. 'Schaepmanstraat - De Kempenaerstraat' was there from October 23, 2020 to January 29, 2021.
